NCJWC holds our sections together and enables our organization to be a recognized force within Canada and internationally. Recently you received the Vital Connections Donation letter, our only national fundraising campaign directed specifically to our members across Canada. We need your donation; without the national body, NCJWC sections could not continue to operate as powerfully as they do.
Why does NCJWC need money? What is it used for? What does the national office actually do?
- It is the single, national voice of all Council members in both National and International matters concerning Israel, antisemitism, and the plight of women and children at home and abroad. It enables us to have a voice with Parliament in Canada, to partner with such agencies as CIJA and B’nai Brith. But it costs money for these alliances to flourish and to have a voice that is both heard and respected. Advocacy, showing up when it counts, rallying support—this is not done in thin air.
- As the umbrella organization, it supports the Sections across Canada by investing in Sections’ programming costs and sections’ infrastructure (computer upgrading, website improvements, staffing)
- As the only Jewish Organization in Canada that supports LUMA, we enable a counselling service in Tel Aviv that helps disadvantaged and damaged people who may not otherwise be able to receive such vital help. The national organization is the only one permitted by law to send such funds abroad; without your donations, our support of ALUMA could not continue.
- National is the only Jewish organization in Canada that is a part of International Council of Jewish Women, celebrating 33 member countries, and which has delegates at the UN and The World Jewish Congress.
A focus of the National Organization is now on expansion: Simcoe County Section is the first new section in many years. It was founded by our member Helen Silverstein. Creating new sections involves advertising and visits to potential areas. This requires funds.
Your donations truly help in NCJWC’s ability to affect positive change. By having the financial means, we are not only recognized as an important organization but are respected for the work we do.
As members of NCJWC it is important for you all to realize the importance of our fabulous, longstanding organization. Be proud, and do support our endeavors so that we can remain strong and vibrant.
